Back a bit ago, Quin exchanged his transit authority for another sort of moving target.
After some digging around, I found that Zmirak’s original piece was followed up by another more recent.
Then I found that there were a number of responses, hither and yon.
Then, if you start following the links flourishing from Zmirak’s follow-up, that there are plenty of responses to the responses.
BONUS: We were mentioned as part of the conversation here (although the author misses the fact that Kiercegaard is spelled with two K’s…)
related: I just picked up A Confederacy of Dunces. Had no idea Walker Percy wrote the introduction, let alone got it published.
Ignatius J. Reilly certainly seems to be the fictional embodiment of Zmirak’s composite.
But that would be to reduce IJR! Clearly, if anyone was more than the sum of his parts, it is that great man of geometry and theology!
JOB
Right now he’s killing me with his faulty ‘valves’ among other things, so I hope I’ll agree with you by the time I finish the book.
Woof!
Ok, he’s more a lovable buffoon than a folk hero for me…
Related: the very same weekend Gerasene occurred(unbeknownst to me) I was among a great group of young folks united in love of philosophy, faith, and alcohol. (The majority were illiberal Thomists.) This is not to say I’ve abandoned my Tea Party Catholicism, but I am more amenable to hearing more about how one would implement illiberal principles-or at least staying up all night BS-ing.
(Still got to get my hands on Ferrara’s book…)
Oh, yes, if nothing else, you can really develop your liver amongst the illiberal set…

That was a funny interview.
