A little first-person work over at New York Magazine.
In related and astonishing news, someone bought a copy of Alphonse issue two last week.

A nod to Kierkegaard and Walker Percy: existentialist tomfoolery, political satire, literary homage, word mongering, a year-round summer reading club, Dylanesque music bits, apocalyptic marianism, poetry, fiction, meta-porn, a prisoner work-release program.

This piece by Kat aka the Crescat has been going around the Catholic blogosphere. This is powerful–and hard to read. Get through the gruesome, because the ending is a stunner. http://www.patheos.com/blogs/thecrescat/2013/01/how-the-nine-days-of-prayers-comforted-me-while-i-fought-demons.html
Thank you for this.
This one stars the devil:

Or rather, someone in the role of satan.
Anyone else want to bitch slap that guy?
I’m sort of speechless. The little noises he makes at the end, after saying, “Looking good for 40,” seem to indicate sexual desire. For what? For Roe v Wade? Given that he’s been calling his beloved “Baby” throughout, I’m a little terrified.
As long as he’s calling her ‘baby’, she’s safe. Only get terrified if he starts addressing her as ‘foetus’.
“Looking good for 40 weeks.”
And then again:

Oh, happy day. Thanks Big Jon.
That is what got me crying. Thanks, Jon.
Illustrated Section does not sell the .pdf, it seems. How can a man be a benefactor to the arts in a situation like this?
Good gravy. The Illustrated Section has shut down altogether. A thousand pardons. I’ll look into making it digitially available elsewhere! Thank you so much for letting me know. As a thank you, if you email me at mlickona AT gmail DOT com, I’ll send you a link to the download for issue two.
