Not to be confused with High Southern English, wherein “Bless your heart” means “I would like nothing better than to rip your still beating heart from your chest and crush it before your rapidly darkening eyes, but this is a church social, and we have manners here.” But of course, what you hear is, “Aren’t you sweet?”
