A nod to Kierkegaard and Walker Percy: existentialist tomfoolery, political satire, literary homage, word mongering, a year-round summer reading club, Dylanesque music bits, apocalyptic marianism, poetry, fiction, meta-porn, a prisoner work-release program.

I always thought it was their best line.
And I always thought they should have never moved out of Georgia. They would have spent more time reading Percy, which would have led them to O’Connor, which would have led him to something so unique in the music world (“Southern Gothic Rock” anyone?) that by the end of it they would be saying “I too am glad we lost the war.” Even though they probably say that now, it is for a far different reason than Percy and O’Connor had.

All this talk of 10000 Maniacs and REM put me in the mood to listen to Merchant. I saw this and thought you esp might enjoy.

Awesome.
