Bad Catholics, like those here assembled, ought to listen to the words of good priests, especially when those words are about Bob Dylan. Let us listen attentively:

  1. Matthew Lickona says

    Thank you kindly for this.

  2. Quin Finnegan says

    Great stuff; thanks cnb.

  3. Rufus McCain says

Dylan himself seems to see this as a key song, too. It's a main staple of his concerts in an otherwise highly variable setlist. For awhile, it was always the third song he'd play in a show; now it often appears as either the last song or one of the encore songs.

  4. Jonathan Webb says

Better commentary on Pauline theology than any evangelical, both Bob and this priest. Good stuff. Thanks so much.

  5. The last time I saw Dylan live, this was the last song he played. It was almost unrecognizable, of course.

  6. Southern Expat says

I can see that I'll need to start listening to Dylan. This place is like a university for cultural literacy.
