  1. Matthew Lickona says

    Oooh! New game!

“I’m living life like there’s no tomorrow because there isn’t one. Time is a flat circle.”

  2. Matthew Lickona says

“You mean love, you mean the big lightning bolt to the heart, where you can’t eat, you can’t work – you just run off and get married and make babies? The reason you haven’t felt it is because it doesn’t exist. What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons. To realize that all your life — you know, all your love, all your hate, all your memory, all your pain — it was all the same thing. It was all the same dream. A dream that you had inside a locked room. A dream about being a person. And like a lot of dreams there’s a monster at the end of it.”

  3. Matthew Lickona says

“Well, I hate to break it to you, but there is no big lie. There is no system. The universe is indifferent. You gotta get together and tell yourself stories that violate every law of the universe just to get through the goddamn day? What’s that say about your reality?”

  4. Matthew Lickona says

    Variation: Marty/Roger:

“The hell? You can barely stand up. What is it? You don’t drink with me or the boys, and you got to get a load on before you visit my family? You don’t know how to drink. Your whole generation, you drink for the wrong reasons. My generation, we drink because it’s good, because it feels better than unbuttoning your collar, because we deserve it. We drink because it’s what men do.”

    • Matthew Lickona says

LET’S NOT GO THERE. Seriously, that review is baffling to me. But then, I fell in love with that album during a week in darkest Wisconsin, watching this guy I know get ready to get hitched.

      • I liked it because he says what I’ve always been trying to say: others may be better, but this is my favorite.

One of the first albums (tapes, actually, at that time) I ever stole from my sister.

And then bought my own because I broke hers playing it so much.
