She hits every note on target, which is very pleasing, but I’d give her ten grand to kick her voice into full throttle.
The tissue thin mode has had its moment.
I want to be clear that I don’t make the criticism against her as an artist, but rather against the time and the current vocal styling.
Boudreau is very good, and she’s adorable, and she’s writing great lyrics. And clearly, she can sing.
There’s a little bit of throttle on this one that Paul found.

Yes, yes yes.
I always hesitate to second-guess the choices of a genuine artist, which Ms Boudreau has proved herself to be.
But I’m not so hesitant to state my own tastes, whether or not I think they are founded on anything objective. And by my own tastes, a bold woman’s voice beats an ethereal girl’s voice nine times out of ten, if not more. Which is another way of saying that — although I won’t second-guess Ms Boudreau and her muse — I hope an ever-bigger proportion of her musical output will be in the full-throated, earthy, grown-up mode of ‘Before the Sun Has Time to Rise’. If I could be assured of a few tracks that explored that sound and style, I might even be willing to divert a few dollars away from the Alphonse Completion Fund to Ms Boudreau’s next Kickstarter campaign.

Just finished listening to the album.
I dug these four tracks: Before the Sun Has Time to Rise, Dappled Things, Solitudes, Heart of the World; with an honorable mention for I’ll Be Your Woman & Eros (Golden Promise)
Yeah so only 1/3 of the album is going on my ipod but its still money well spent.
When she hits the chorus on I’ll be your woman, I swoon a little. More anon.
Agreed. This is on itunes, fwiw. Not particularly fond of the drum but its got kind of a VW feel. Vocals are more lively though.
