A nod to Kierkegaard and Walker Percy: existentialist tomfoolery, political satire, literary homage, word mongering, a year-round summer reading club, Dylanesque music bits, apocalyptic marianism, poetry, fiction, meta-porn, a prisoner work-release program.

Granted, Nineteen Eighty-Four is one of the great cautionary tales, its always-urgent lesson powerfully — often masterfully — drawn in the starkest images: impossible to mistake; impossible to forget; impossible, ultimately, to deny. Still, even granting all this: Did Orwell really need to write an entire novel to warn us never to trust an Irishman?
I resemble that remark!
JOB
Present company excepted, of course.
On the other hand, anything less than a novel would be an insult!
JOB
I know, right? Those ‘Irish Need Not Apply’ signs by the library-card signup forms are just petty.
We never did learn to read good.
JOB
Real good, I meant to say.
JOB
I always push things too far.
