Gerasene: Final Roundup

The houses of meeting:

Chris Carstens, giving the kickoff talk, Figures of Speech in the Roman Missal’s New Translation.  Essentially, a catalog of the literary precedents for the linguistic stylings that have come under fire from critics who prefer their heavenly food without so much flavor.

Dr. John Lyon, who spoke on Flannery O’Connor’s “Everything that Rises Must Converge,” Teilhard de Chardin, and the Cyber Commons, essentially a response/rebuttal to Mark Helprin’s interpretation of the story in his book Digital Barbarism.

Cat Hodge, author of Profiles in String, originator of the role of Naomi in the forthcoming Surfing with Mel, and together with Elizabeth Duffy, one of Gerasene’s grand chanteuses.

Father Stephen Pullis and Father Jon Perrotta, who celebrated Mass for attendees on Saturday in JOB’s house, then concelebrated Mass at St. Philip’s Church the next morning.

The Wife on the Bridge:

The Hodges, doing the real hard work of preparation.

Late-night session:

Aftermath:

Many, many thanks to the O’Brien and Johnson families who hosted, and to everyone who attended and made the gathering such a success.

I don’t know if this is true of everybody, but watching films does seem to stimulate visual impressions in the mind (as opposed to words) in the approach to sleep/wakefulness and perhaps increase dreaming.

  3. A conference of boldness, no doubt. Thanks for posting pictures.

    At every Korrektivist konfabulation,
There’s babies and bourbon and edification.
I tremble, though — then glorify Him
Who thirsted for us all. L’chaim!

  5. Jonathan Potter says

Magnificent, thanks for this. And a glimpse of the basement that cost JOB New Orleans.
