Sawyer

Rufus likes Lost, so I’ll share.* After this week’s underwhelming episode – seriously, that Sun-Jin reunion? Seriously? – some friends and I sat around and named our favorite characters. Or at least, the characters that were our favorites for the longest period of time. I said Sawyer, because he used to do more than squint and growl and mope over his dead wife. Back when he was interesting and layered, I liked him because a) as a con man, he is forever presenting certain personas in certain situations, and b) because he is a cynic who does not want to be a cynic, but has been driven to it, and so struggles against the hope that he can stop.

*I used to like Lost; now it’s just an addiction.

    Great picture.

I used to be addicted. Now I merely like it. Alot. I agree the latest episode was weak. Although the scene where Sayid was sent to kill Desmond was pretty good.

I like what they're doing with the parallel realities this season. Maybe it resonates as a metaphor for my own dis-integration, and vague hope for integration. And the parallel reality version of Sawyer, along with the island Sawyer, is doing a lot more the growling and moping.

Favorite characters? Desmond, Charlie, Mr. Eko, Hugo, Sawyer, Gilligan, Ginger … I like them all.

That should read: more than growling and moping.

    Eko broke my heart.
