My favorite line from this New York piece on a rekindling of Hollywood’s fizzled relationship with the Evangelicals:

“The church has been willing to embrace Hollywood anytime it gives a nod to what they’re trying to do,” says Harwell, “which is capture the beliefs of Christians.”

Right. Because they all flocked to The Nativity Story.

I’ve said it before: The Passion was a moving icon, a chance for people to see God die on their behalf – the event they give thanks for every blessed Sunday at church. There is no story like it, not even the Second Coming. Though the Second Coming would be pretty amazing to see, onscreen or otherwise.

In the meantime, we can look forward to dueling versions of Satan’s fall: Fall From Grace and something called Paradise Lost.

Not gonna mention my own angel-themed treatment. Nope. That was years ago.
