A nod to Kierkegaard and Walker Percy: existentialist tomfoolery, political satire, literary homage, word mongering, a year-round summer reading club, Dylanesque music bits, apocalyptic marianism, poetry, fiction, meta-porn, a prisoner work-release program.

Worthy penance well done. You've been reading Henri Nouwen's book on Lenten penance? I can see in the spirit many angels lining up to give you a warm hug. You know, you get an adrenaline rush when you beat yourself. It's not as medieval as that clam sandwich, but it's much lower in cholesterol. Self-flagellation has zero calories and zero cholesterol and that benefits both body and soul. That's a good thing! Take lent to the next level beat your-bad-self next weekend, and have a grub sandwich.
Just curious, are those clams fried in bourbon batter?
