I think I’ve now seen three movies directed by Danny Boyle: 28 Days Later (zombies!), Sunshine (science fiction), and now this, which is … the feel-good movie of the year. Last year. After a Bollywood ending that outdoes anything ever cooked up by Woody Allen or the author of the Book of Job, there is an amazing dance/title sequence to close the movie out. I guess what I’m trying to express is that the part after the ending is really the best part.
I agree. It was a fine movie, but the dance number is what transformed it into something great. In a way, the entire movie functioned that way for me. It gradually got better and better, with what came later somehow making what went earlier better as it went. If that makes any sense.
Maybe we should scrap the Korrektiv Summer Reading Klub in favor of the Korrektiv Summer Movie Klub.
I thought that Sunshine was creepy in a 2001 sort of way. Underrated.
