   Look, no fifteen year old (with any common sense) could pose in a sheet with “the pout” on her face and not understand how the photo would present itself.

   The husband and I are both fans of Leibovitz’s work. I think she is an unique talent. I also know that she couldn’t get as far as she has by being unprofessional. Last year, a shoot for VF, that was to feature three starlets in the buff, only included two…the third had a change of heart on the nudity issue, as said shoot was beginning. Leibovitz had no hard feelings. Ms Cyrus could have stopped this at any moment.

   And Leibovitz has been digital for years. According to her, in one article, she showed the people chaperoning, as well as Ms. Cyrus, the image and they loved it.

   Looks like a very serious case of people allowing their kids to idealize a public figure for no reason…I prescribe no crappy TV or music for a life.

   You know, it’s funny, people are really blaming VF and Leibovitz. They honestly can’t see the girl’s culpability.

   I guess, from Anonymous’ exclamation point heavy post, I am supposed to clarify that I didn’t mean that Ms Mcadams is a saint. Only that Ms Leibovitz wants the shots she wants but if a subject has a problem with it, they can change the concept at any time.

   Even if VF and Leibovitz’s told the Cyrus family to FO, the family and the larger Disney crime family could have obtained enough lawyers to clog the gaping maw of hell to put and end to these pictures. I suspect it is targeted to transition wee Miley from teen sensation into adult superstar over the next few years. It’s probably a really smart business move if that is your business.

   I find it very hypocritical of the culture considering they packed off all those poor Mormon kids into the loving arms of the Texas foster care system on what appears to be an anonymous hoax. I was all for it until I heard that the caller wasn’t a desperate 16 year old Morman girl, but some yet to be identified woman in Colorado. Now I kind of doubt anything the government is saying about the case. Who knows the next thing the Texas government will do is to make home schooling impossible. Okay, that’s a stretch. That could never happen in the free United States. Anyway broader point is, if an anonymous phony tip is sufficient to bring out the body armor, why shouldn’t young Miley likewise be taken from her parents and put into the a loving foster home somewhere? After all isn’t this some form of child sexual exploitation?

   Annie Leibovitz has been around for quite a long time and her body of work is well known. (I mean, I got Shooting Stars as a Christmas gift when I was in high school and I’m just about eligible for an AARP card!) So how can anyone possibly be “surprised?”

   My daughters and I were talking about the whole thing and we agreed that blankey over the head means “I’m a Baby” and blankey clutched to the chest means “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?”

   My girls were also creeped out by the daddy/daughter pic. It was just…creepy. And we’re not particularly prudish. We’re kind of a casual, glomming all over each other family. But like obscenity, we know creepy when we see it.

   I am not sure what to make of people who use their virginity as part of their professional personna, but act as though they have little regard for their purity beyond its PR value. Their behavior looks like a variation of the super-skinny super model who looks at food, talks about food, tastes some food but says she never eats.

   I blame the synergy of multiple medias for making this even bigger than it deserves to be. How many Disney-phile children read VF? Don’t parents think of hiding grown-up magazines? I remember some weeks when LIFE magazine just ‘didn’t show up’ at my house.

   fyi. judge napalitano (sp?) a fox news commentator said that it is in fact against california law to take provocative photos of a minor. the fact that her parents were present could subject them to abuse charges if the photos indeed could be deemed erotic. which, i think, is possible. (not that they will in fact be prosecuted for abuse-but i am just saying, that “ezra” isn’t too far off on this one. making the texas comparison) ….judge N said further, that the penalties for this could be pretty steep if someone deems it a crime. i think he said, 20 years if it was found that the pictures were taken with the intent to make money on the sexualization of a minor. that’s 20 years for her parents for allowing it. mcm

    That would be amazing. California isn’t generally too hard on celebrities. Britney, Nicole, Paris, Keifer (to some extent), and the latest, Richie Sambora. Tanked with his kid in the car, if memory serves. Slap on the wrist.

    yes…i agree. i am curious though to see if this goes anywhere. he made the point that if she was 18 it wouldn’t be a problem….but the fact that she is only 15 means she is being exploited. and if “ezra” is correct that this is a calculated transitional move by disney…then couldn’t someone hold them responsible? i guess that’s a stretch. thank god my kids don’t even know who she is. i mean the issue here for me as a parent would be that she is held up as a role model (unfortunately) for very very very young girls. like, 2nd graders at my daughter’s school….who, now, via the “airwaves” are going to get wind of this. sad. the disaster of using any kind of celebrity as a “role” model. i think the fascinating issue is the involvement of disney, who, shep smith pointed out, control the image of their people with an iron fist and are acting like they had no idea that this was happening….i guess it just lends some weight to “ezra’s” conspiracy ideas….:-))))! mcm

    Hey mcm, Hope all is well. Just for clarity sake, I did not mean to imply that the Disney Crime Family was in on it. I think it was the parents, planning the next career phase. I think Disney will get a tangential benefit, but if Team Miley really wanted to stop it they could be using the same justification you site above, and if I were VF or the photographer I would happily destroy the film.

    My mole under deep cover in Hollywood once told me that you could get away with just about anything there as long as you make money. “Even lad buggering?” Says I. “Where’ve you been dude.” Spake the mole.
