From the YouTube Archives: Tosca

Seattle Opera has just finished its run of Puccini’s Tosca; I saw a performance with Lisa Daltrius in the leading role and Greer Grimsley as Baron Scarpia; both were fantastic.

Tosca’s beloved Cavaradossi is well represented by Pavoratti in a concert performance; here are versions of Recondita armonia (“Hidden Harmony”) and E lucevan le stelle (“and the stars were shining”). Here also is a performance of a duet with Shirley Verrett, O Dolci Mani.

Here also are two versions of “Vissi d’arte” as sung by Leontyne Price in 1978 and 1962.
