Songs don’t come much catchier than this. I first heard it years ago but never saw the video, having long since grown out of the mind numbing, MTV-watching days of youth. Now I’m in the mind numbing, computer-surfing days of middle age. Anyway, I heard it on the radio the other day, and so looked it up when I was on the computer next. What a great video! The band is called “Weezer”, and they’re just playing with a bunch of animals in a wildlife park somewhere. The lyrics are pretty great, especially the line, When you’re on a golden sea / you don’t need no memory. The chorus, just “hip, hip” repeated over and over, is exactly that. And the guitar solo … rips. That’s the exact word for it. Rips.
